Quick to Judge
A downloadable game for Windows
You are a judge working in a country whose legal system has been working very quickly to create new laws. And not just that but your closest subordinate just told you that you’ll have to be working through old cases at an extreme pace today.
Instructions:
* Read the case presented to you in this box and then press the correct punishment based on the perpetrators characteristics and the laws from the lawbook on the right.
* New laws will appear for every case. These will in many case contradict each other but you are to judge according to the HIGHEST possible punishment (we go hard on crime here).
* Fail too many cases and there will be consequenses.
* Get through the pile to save your career.
I was way too tired this weekend to actually do this well but in the interest of preserving my Ludum Dare streak I at least made something. It has a bit of humour at least and while I almost ripped my hair out trying to make Godot export it correctly I did at least get a Windows version at last. I’ll see if I can get a web version on this itch.io later. This was my first time ever touching Godot which was a bad mistake to make for a gamejam. Too much googling in too little time…
I also had no time for sound or music despite my love for both so there is an eerie silence thing going on.
I hope to perform better next LD. :)

Oh my goodness, this game is HARD but so funny! The amount of humor you managed to inject in here is amazing, let alone in 48 hours. And I mean, heck yeah for nonbinary representation 🙌

Thank you so much for the kind words both here and on LD! While I don't feel like I managed to implement the idea as well as I could have I am glad to hear that it was still appreciated. :D I was a bit worried that the text was only funny to my very sleep-deprived and tired brain that wrote it so it's nice to hear that the humour was actually, well, humorous. Glad you enjoyed the nonbinary representation, heck yeah for enbies indeed! B) Also I don't know if you noticed but all the names are also (at least supposed to be) gender neutral! I realized I had to have it like that halfway through, what with how I had programmed the procedural text generation. :D
A thousand thanks for playing and enjoying my game!
Ooooohhhhh that's clever with the gender-neutral names since then you can use any pronoun with them as it's randomly generated and not worry about it. Plus the fact that you did it all in 48 hours?!?! I used to do video games for LD too (I do tabletop now) and 48 hours goes by SOOOOOOOOOO fast, so the fact that you got something (1) working (2) funny (3) that actually ends lol and (4) really unique in that amount of time is a HECK of a feat!
And you're so, so welcome, of course :D I also love this bit of behind-the-scenes info about the game and your creation of it!
